Colton, Colton, Colton

The boy wonder is hilarious! I thought I'd take a minute to write down some of his funnies & accomplishments so I don't forget them!

First of all, he FINALLY picks out his own clothes. I'd see kids all over town with adorablely mis-matched clothing and shoes.. my kid, nope. Wouldn't do it.  Now, he gets his own clothes, but he holds his tshirts up against his body and makes sure they match his shorts.  Guess I shouldn't complain!

He is so funny lately.  Some of the things I probably shouldn't laugh at since that would encourage the behavior, but I just can't help it.. I've gotten pretty good at making sure I do it "after hours" when I'm telling Cody the story.

Anyway, he's recently seen the movie Casper- the one with Christina Ricci.  Well now, the poor friendly ghost gets blamed for EVERYthing around here!

For example, today.  Tyler has this push/walker toy that Colton plays rather rough with, pretending to be a monster truck.  He's been banned from even touching it, and today it was in my bedroom.  I had it up against the window.  I walked in and it was in the middle of the room, knowing who it was, I just moved it back and went about my business. I walked in my room again, and there it was, misplaced.  So the following conversation took place.

Me: Colton, leave the baby toy alone
Colton: what toy?
Me: the walker that you keep moving. you know you aren't allowed to play with it
Colton: oh, the one in your room? I didn't touch it.
Me: yes you did, it's not where I left it.
Colton: huh. it wasn't me. I betcha Casper is playing with it.
Me: *sigh* just leave it alone please.

Later in the evening, we were upstairs putting away their laundry and I was pulling old and outgrown things out of the closet.  When I hear a toy chunked down the stairs to the first floor.  (Colton is often in trouble for throwing things).  So I come out of the closet and...

Me: Colton, stop throwing things.
Colton: What? That monster truck?
Me: yes
Colton: Oh, I didn't do that.
Me: Yes, you did. Don't do it again or you'll break something and get into big trouble.
Colton: No, it was Casper.
Me: NO it wasn't.
Colton: Well, you were in my closet, so you didn't SEE who did it.

*slaps forhead*

REALLY? Did my FOUR YEAR old just say that to me?!  I didn't even know how to react!  This kid is seriously going to kill me!

He finished up this year's round of swim lessons.  I am thinking about trying to get him into another session before they're over for the summer.  Maybe you remember last year when he was a little timid.  Not this year, NO SIR! His coach said he could move up a level.

Well, this summer he is quite the little fishy! He used to be perfectly content playing in the sand at the beach or lounging in a chair poolside, but now you can't keep him out of the water!

He has learned to SWIM under water! He has the courage to jump in the pool, and even keeps his eyes open underwater.  Today we were splashing around in the pool and stuff and after several "dives" to get those pool ring thingies, he looks around at the trees and says "man, it's really foggy today!"  In case you're wondering, it's south Texas, it is not foggy at 3 in the afternoon! I told him maybe he should stay above water for awhile, let his eyes get some fresh air.  Then on the way back to the house, he's looking around and says "I can't believe it's so foggy!"

****
This is getting long... but I've got ONE MORE

Tonight he came out of the bathroom after brushing his teeth.  His entire face was soaking wet.  Anticipating a soppy mess to clean up, I asked him what happened.

He says "oh, to my face?"
Me: "yeah, why is it all wet?"
Him: "Oh I brushed my teeth, but I brushed my eyebrows with my toothbrush"  (he has an electric toothbrush)
Me: "with, or without toothpaste?"  (I asked it as if it were a completely normal question people ask each other"
Him: "oh, with no toothpaste"
Me: "good, at least your eyebrows won't be sticky"
I never know what to expect from the little guy.  Social butterfly he is.  I say he's going to be a politician- he's very outgoing, very opinionated, very personable, strong-minded, and has NEVER met a stranger!
