July

We kicked July off with a bang, quite literally, with the independence day holiday.  Cody had to work, so we drove out to a friend's house because their daddy had to work too! They have an awesome pool and tons of space, we're always so privileged to be invited to their house.  We had hot dogs, the kids swam for HOURS, then we did sparklers and some fireworks, one that BOOOOMED over the house! We moms had a great laugh over our slightly dangerous fireworks show, but our sons thought we were AWESOME!  I'm sorry I can't figure out how to rotate these photos on the blog... hmmm!!!

The day after the 4th, we went to SeaWorld to hang out with some of our favorite vacationing New Mexicans!!

These last two photos totally sum up my kids on the last little bit of our trip... apparently staying up till midnight for fireworks, then getting up early the next day to go to San Antonio in the heat from 9am-8pm, wasn't going well for my little dearies.  They were plum tired! by the time the last Shamu show was over, there were only a few minutes until the big fireworks show, but Tyler was literally just screaming.  We were D-O-N-E, done.

After that, until the end of July, we spent some much needed time at home! It was great, playing inside during the heat of the day, and enjoying cool evenings till dark (9-9:30pm)!!  We also checked out a local waterpark one day on a half-price day, built rocket ships at the library, and did some manly crafting at Lowe's!  We also made many trips to the aquarium, but I don't have many pictures from there (kind of a relaxed, been there, done that attitude), we mostly just skipped the fish part and played in the splash park.  An old high school friend of mine came down, and we met up with them at the aquarium that day too!

During this relaxing time off, Tyler also attempted to ride his bike with no training wheels.  He had the mechanics and skill to do it down, however, his poor little short legs couldn't touch the ground with the bike slowed and stopped, which resulted in a nasty crash and the training wheels reattached until he gets a little taller (and forgets about the spill)! A DQ blizzard, of course, made things 10 times better that night!

Janel & her two kids came down for a long weekend.  It was a great time to hang out with one of my best friend's and her sweet kids.  Time, finances, and distance has kept us apart since having kids, but the stars aligned and we had a great time!!

The last part of July, Cody took some time off and we headed up to Uvalde to see Nana & Papa.  We took them to SeaWorld with some free ticket coupons we had, and had a blast (and wore them out!) with some different company!  When they went back to work exhausted on Monday, we went out to Montel & sat our bottoms in the cool Nueces River.  Sure made me miss my SWTJC summer days at the Frio in Concan!  But my boys (and dogs!) loved the river and thought it was so awesome to drink "fresh water" right out of the river... it was so clear and cool! We even found a little crawfish! (I think I need to get better at taking photos of my kids with family, but I always get wrapped up in VISITING since we live so far away!)

This sums up July! August is next, which wound up being A LITTLE less hectic since I was keeping twin girls for a friend of mine the last little bit of summer break.
