August's Happenings

In August, I stumbled upon a deal for gift certificates for a local indoor bounce place.  I ordered 3 sets of $50 gift certificates for $7.50 a set.  They sure came in handy when I was babysitting, but we also have many gift certificates left!! They don't expire until January, so we have some time to use them or gift them!  The kids had a blast, and it was a nice cool place to burn some energy.

Now that everyone can ride bikes, we all went for bike rides a couple times a month.

We had fun reading our hearts out and taking part in the many activities the library offered over the summer.  It's hard to not put on my bragging pants, but I'm so happy my kids love learning activities & reading as much as they do just playing outside.  The big end of summer party for the library program was at the city pool.

Colton has really improved his swimming skills, so he asked if he could jump off the diving board.  A nervous mom and little brother stood to the edge of the pool while he successfully made his first jump!

After that, he was HOOKED, and ended the night with a jump off the high dive!! Oh my, I was SOOO nervous, but I was the cool mom and let him do it! The look of pride on his face was almost worth my nerves!

Our city also hosted a series of events called Park-It.  We didn't catch wind of this until August because we live in an apt complex and don't get city water bills that have these fun tid-bits on them.  Anyway, the few we did attend were a blast with sno-cones, door prizes, and lots of friends to run and play with!

We had even MORE friends come down for a vacation, so we drove to Rockport beach that day to go hang out with them!  We went to the free aquarium there, which was a first for us!

The last trip of the summer was Midland.  My entire family was there.  My mom, sisters, and I went to Abilene to pick out Katie's wedding dress.  While doing wedding things, the guys (Cody & the boys, my dad, my brother-in-law, and my future brother-in-law) all went four wheeling at this really cool track just outside of Midland.  Here are the pictures that the guys shot!

More time at the park, beach (with some long-distance extended family), at home, and the aquarium was how the rest of August was spent.  We had a fabulous summer, and I'm so sad that it is over already.  Counting down to June now!
