Colton has had the same pair of arm floaties since he was Tyler's age I think! Well, our last trip to the beach, I accidentally misplaced them (no, really, I did!). Today he wanted to go to the pool so I told him he'd have to go sans arm floaties. He was pretty content to play in the baby pool for awhile, but got bored quickly.
I told him I wouldn't let go of him in the big pool until he was ready. He glued himself to me and I decided it was time. So I slipped out of his grip and lo and behold- he got it!
He was still stressed and a little panicky about it, so some other little boy (who had just learned how to swim three weeks ago), showed him the doggie paddle, then I stood there..... and called my son like a dog. When he reached me I said "GOOD BOY!" much like you would a puppy. *rolling eyes*.... whatever because it WORKED! He swam all on his own and was getting better and better- ending the afternoon with JUMPING in the pool and swimming to me!!!
So July 23, 2011- Colton swam on his own!

Yay, Colton! I've heard that floaties can be addicting ;) A&A use PuddleJumpers and I'm worried what we'll do next year because they're already too tight for Alex!
