Project time!

Yes, I know I haven't done my Christmas posts yet... I'm ALMOST there! Maybe tomorrow night! I was too tired to stare at photos for a couple of hours.

ANYWAY, instead of staring at the computer for a long time, I opted for a project instead.  I thought it would take me a looooong time, but only took 45 minutes (including digging around looking for stuff).

I love my boys' teeny tiny coming home clothes, and have kept them in ziploc bags, nice and safe, until tonight.  I thought of this idea all on my own.... when Colton was a baby!

First of all, I purchased two 16x20 shadow boxes from Hobby Lobby.  Priced $49.99, but because Hobby Lobby is awesome, I waited until they had a sale of 50% off, which is every so often.  So I spent $50 for the both of them.

Secondly, I gathered up all their teeny things, sniffed them, okay, inhaled that (somehow) lingering newborn scent, and reminiced holding sleepy, warm little newborns.

I popped the back of the shadow boxes and peeled off all the labels and price tags.

I started by using their hospital blankets as the backgrounds.

Some people may have cut the blanket down to size, but I couldn't do it.  So it's all folded up underneath.  All you have to do is simply pin it on with straight pins, since it's foam in the middle of the board. I used the white headed ones for Colton's, and the black headed ones for Tyler's.

Then, I started out by laying out the clothing, pinned it down, then added the smaller pieces.  I had wanted to put the birth certificates with their foot prints on them in there too, but it just wasn't big enough.  More on that later...

Then, just put the back in and and they're ready to be hung on the wall!

Colton:

(I took it back out and fixed that one corner of the striped hat)

Tyler:

Each shadow box contains the clothing and blanket the boys came home in, respectfully.  It also has their crib card- time, date, weight, length at birth.  Colton's currently has his hospital bracelet, and Tyler's does not.  I can't find Tyler's, but I know it is around here somewhere.  However, Tyler's has a teeny blood pressure cuff they had on him in the hospital.

Since the birth certificates wouldn't fit into the shadow boxes, I decided to buy picture frames to display them in next to the shadow boxes... along with a newborn photo of each boy.

Like I said before, I cannot believe my babies were this teeny weensy, I mean... wow.  I miss them being so teeny.  It goes by SOOOOOOOO fast.
