Colton's 5th Birthday

Living far from family and friends makes it hard to plan parties.  However, turning 5 is a big birthday, so we wanted to do something special.  SOOO we planned a surprise trip to Monster Jam in San Antonio for Colton's birthday.  He had NO idea where we were going, we didn't utter a single word.

Bur first we ate at the Denny's downtown, after a short stroll around RiverCenter mall, which the boys LOVED because you can see the Riverwalk from inside.

We got passes to go to the "Pit Party"- you get to go in the arena and meet the drivers and do fun things.  We got there later than we needed too, due to us being Monster Jam first-timers, so we didn't get to do EVERYTHING.  But when we walked into the arena, that's where Colton realized where we were...

He remained sort of shell-shocked for awhile, just looking around, soaking it all in!

After returning back to earth, we stood right in line for photos and autographs!  My friend Jessi, and her son Travis met us, as well as Aunt Lindsey and cousin Lexi!

This is Colton's favorite truck, Monster Mutt.  Funny story here.  We didn't plan on having his special custom-made birthday shirt signed, but when Colton walked up to the driver, he turned around to look for us to hand him his book.... and the driver... just signed it!! Colton looked so shocked that someone was writing on his clothing! But he quickly turned to excitement!!  Someone WROTE on his clothes!!!

Then we took our seats and settled in for the show... here are some snapshots from that part of the day.

this is how Colton watched the whole show.  While the rest of us were woo-hoo'ing... he sat there, intently taking it ALLL in!!!

We had a great time! We are already planning on heading to the show in Corpus when they come this way in the summer.  We got home very, very late that night... maybe next time we'll book a hotel room.

Sadly, I don't have any birthDAY pictures to share.  I accidentally formatted my camera card before getting them on the computer. I feel like such a dummy! There weren't many on there to begin with, BUT I'm still very bummed about the whole ordeal.  So much so, that we might have another birthday cake this weekend to at least have a birthday cake photo to keep with the others!!

Oh, and we also learned that the dear old point and shoot camera is on it's last legs.  Guess we'll be shopping for a new one of those in the near future!
