Sometimes I think they really are! I love taking the boys somewhere fun so they can explore and roam, and run and learn. But even more I like laying in the floor coloring with Colton while Tyler crawls over top of us, trying to get the paper. I like watching Colton write his letter "N"s backwards when he scribbles "C-O-L-T-O-N" and "N-O" on the sidewalk (he can also spell MOM, DAD, TYLER and write any other words I spell out to him).
I like cloud watching, and laughing at Tyler's funny faces in response to the grass (it isn't always fun constantly pulling sticks, leaves, and mud out of his mouth though LOL).
Here are some pics from a lazy (cool) day we had yesterday- bike riding, blowing bubbles, and playing with sidewalk chalk.
Colton wanted to see if he still fit in his old stroller.
I couldn't believe how big he had gotten since the last time he rode in it!
that bottle with different bubble wands was the best $4 I've ever spent!
Every Texas boy I know, knows it is important to maintain your vehicle.
Here, Colton is changing the oil in his car. Why?
Because the engine was squeaking for some reason.
Sweet baby boy
He didn't want to sit in the grass. He didn't want to sit still on the sidewalk.
So, he did this:
I kept putting him in the grass.
I thought it would be more fun and comfortable to crawl around on than the sidewalk.
I was wrong.
And Tyler let me know I was.
In other news, Cody and I have been talking. Colton starts pre-K in August, and I am going to start substitute teaching. It will be a hard change, probably hardest on me. Not exactly sure where Tyler will be, but we've got some options.
Why substituting?
Because in the spring I am going to start working on my alternative teaching certification. Hoping to have a teaching job for the 2011-2012 school year. Substituting gives me the flexibility to study for my teaching exam, and to still be home once in awhile. Teaching gets me to putting that degree I worked so hard for, to use. (and keeps me in town working vs going to Corpus for work) Putting that degree to use gets us out of this apartment, and into our own home.
In an ideal world, we'd have a rich uncle who left a giant trust fund for us, and a house, and I could stay home with the boys forever. BUT we need two incomes and I am grateful for the time I got to spend with them. Teaching is a great job for our lifestyle. It still lets me be home over holidays and the summer with my guys. I'll have spring break with them, and we'll be able to have family trips in the summer.
Adjustment, yes. Hard, sure. Will we succeed, absolutely!

Sweet pictures! It shows that you've spent LOTS of time working with Colton! Very impressive! Love the pic of Tyler refusing to put his knees down! LOL!
You'll be a GREAT teacher! Perfect profession when you have little ones ;)
