A Visit with the ENT

....

Colton went to see Dr. Hammerick (awesome doctor, I really like him) today, since being diagnosed last Wednesday with an ear infection in his left ear- after we each had horrible head colds.

Well, turns out his left ear is NOT infected, but his tube had come out, then adheared itself to the ear drum, giving it a thick, swollen appearance (similar to what it looks like with an ear infection), which is why we came home from the pediatrician with an antibiotic.

The right ear tube was gone, and looked like it had been for awhile, which is no big deal, he had them for 2 years.

However, Dr. Hammerick measured the responsiveness of Colton's ear drums, and both were very dull- an indication of fluid behind the drum, instead of draining like its supposed to.

He wanted to put tubes back in ASAP, but once I told him about our nasty head colds, he decided to wait four more weeks to see if once the cold is completely cleared up, if Colton's ears react better.

He said 4 weeks could make a huge difference/improvement or we could see zero change at all. No change = tube set #2, just a few weeks before my c-section with Tyler.

I'm not angry, I'm not sad... I just don't want to do this again! He was 13 months old when we got the first set, after about 5 months of constant ear infections. The improvement was drastic and nearly overnight, he started talking and walking within a week.

I'll update this situation in 4 weeks.... or before if need be. I may go pout for a little while.
