2013 January-March

So here we are, 2014.  Holy moly.  I did hardly ANY blogging through the year.  So to catch up, I thought I'd do a series... a year in review of sorts... then aim for ONE blog post a week for 2014.  Let's hope so!

To save your browsers, I'll break it up to three month increments! Here's January-March 2013.

January

We kicked off the new year at home, Cody was off! Hooray!! We just let the boys run around like animals, drinking sparkling punch, waving around some sparklers, and staying up until midnight.

With the cooler weather, we found ourselves indoors alot more often than normal, but that's ok, because from the looks of it, we enjoyed our time indoors!

I'm including these two photos because I feel like the boys look a whole lot younger than they do now, and maybe by the end of this post, you'll agree!!  Tyler especially!

We were also lucky enough to return to Monster Jam at the Alamodome again this past year.  Man, that is SUCH a blast everytime we go!  Colton was Grave Digger's biggest fan, and Tyler crashed at the end, again!

No time to recover from a weekend out of town because the next week was Colton's 7th birthday!!!  Baseball registration was right around that time and he was really excited for that, so we had a baseball party.  A few boys came over to hit some balls out back, play, and eat baseball decorated cupcakes.  Aunts Sarah & Katie were also there, and Colton received enough money as gifts to gear up for the season ahead with one trip to Academy!! I think his birthday fell on a weekday, so he got some new lego, visitors for lunch at school, cupcakes for his classmates, then his party the following weekend.  Gosh, now he's a month away from being 8!!!

Also in January, we were able to get out and enjoy sunny, mild, not humid weather.  Photo shoots for Aunt Katie/Thomas & Aunt Sarah/Uncle Zech also happened this month!

February

February obviously started out a little bit wet, but that's ok, we will take rain down in Texas anytime!!!

Soon after, mommy got to upgrade her camera with the income tax return, for turning the big 3-0.  I couldn't even wait to get it home before I snapped a few pics!

I also started a part-time job as a school crossing guard for the remainder of the school year.  It actually was a pretty fun job, and I'd probably have stuck with it if the boys went to the same school, but they don't so there's no way I could get them both to/from school safely and on time.  Luckily, the boys were able to come with me, and they just made camp in the cargo area of the car and had a grand time!

February also found us without the Dad for a whole entire week while he went to Dallas for a conference.  Yikes! ya know, it started off rough especially with my new job the week before, but by the middle of the week, we had this down.  Unfortunately, Valentine's fell during this week, so he wasn't home, but I had two little men at home to make the day fun.  We got up early to go to work, spent the afternoon at the 1st graders party, then treated ourselves to burgers and had fun playing with bubbles (and my new camera) that evening!

We finished off the month by taking the boys to SA Stockshow for their first time.  It wasn't quite as I remembered it as a kid, but I still think they enjoyed it.  We spent the day with some very special friends, one of my best friends since high school and her husband, and their two baby girls!

March

March started off pretty low key, which is always welcome after the holiday season and pre-summer!  But with two boys, there's usually always something happening, one way or another.  Like.....

The Bike Rodeo

Trips to the park to climb on the sand dunes

Baseball season kick-off

Of course, bike riding... and tricks!

Rockport's Oyster-fest carnival

Then, comes spring break!!! The big excitement this year was our trip to Lost Maples in Vanderpool.  One of my absolute favorite places on Earth, and the boys fell in love with it and have BEGGED and BEGGED to go back. Aunts, Uncles, and dogs rounded out our crew that day.  We stayed in Uvalde at Nana & Papa's for a few days, enjoying a break from school schedules! We had hoped to go up this fall, but it just didn't happen.  Maybe next year!

But first, we kicked off with the bubble festival at the library.  So many gallons of bubble solution and so many different ways to get bubbles or activities to do involving bubbles!

No spring break would be complete without a beach day or a round of mini-golf.  So we did just that! I'd sure hate to single-handedly ruin spring break!

This year, Easter came in March, so it seemed REALLY early.  We attended school & public library egg hunts, but there are other kids in those photos, so I'll refrain from posting their cute little faces all over the internet! Cody had to work Easter Sunday, so we celebrated the day by going to church for worship, then home for some yummy lunch and an Easter egg hunt.  Oh, and cascarones!! I feel that they enjoyed cracking eggs on my head a little too much!
