Baby Update 1 as well as other things

So, we had our first prenatal today. =) Nothing exciting except a regular GYN check-up, blood draw, rules of "no alcohol" yadda yadda. We talked with the doctor, she says "oh, good, a smart patient! so many girls come in here and don't know anything" LOL. I read too much! It is the same doctor that delivered Colton, and she remembered us. I am very excited to have this baby. We go back on Monday for an ultrasound to double check my calculations on baby's age. So we'll get to see the little bean.

We're 6 weeks today, so can't hear the heartbeat for another few weeks- but we will soon!

One speedbump though. When discussing diet, etc, she just said that they don't even think about VBACs (vaginal birth after cesearean). This has me devastated. I had my heart SET on a vaginal birth- at least to have the opportunity to try. The simple answer of "the office doesn't do that" is not good enough. Now, if I had the incision (vertical instead of horizontal) that presents a greater risk for uterine rupture, or some other health problem that would put me, or more importantly, the bean, in extreme danger, then I could understand that.

I am going to ask my doctor on Monday if there is absolutely NO possibility of trying a VBAC and if she sticks by her policy, then I'm looking for another OB. I'm not even being given the chance to try, and would like to consult with another OB about it.

So, if anyone from the Corpus area knows of an OB/GYN that you LOVE, then could you email me their name and office phone number?

If I can't find one then I will learn to embrace the positives of a scheduled c-section (knowing exact birth date of my baby!) and learn to let go a bit of the negatives (recovery, long hospital, my absolute desire to "give birth")...it will be hard, but I will do it.

In other news, Colton is doing fantastic! About a week ago, we had a round where he tested the rules in public. I guess he was tryin to figure out if he would get in trouble in Wal-Mart if he acted up. I popped his little hiney twice and he figured it out, that "yep, I'll get in trouble." LOL

He is talking SOOOO well these days, such a three year old thing!

His birthday is in two days. If Cody can get off of work (switch days off), we'll go to Chuck E Cheese. Just a family cake and presents this year. If Cody can't get off, we'll order a pizza for dinner instead, or just meet Cody at Pizza Hut.

Like I said, he's doing great. His new favorite song is "Elvira" by the Oak Ridge Boys. He loves, loves, loves watching Star Wars Clone Wars with his dad and John & Kate Plus 8 on TLC with me. Still lovin' his cars and trucks and trains!

Life is good.

I think that you are going to have a hard time with the v-birth. Isabel had to to the mando c-section also. She said it is not just a issue for doctors but also hospitals. If it makes you feel better, I am on the other side: would much rather have a c-section then going through the pain again. Best of luck!
