June 2013, part 1

We kicked off summer by a trip to the zoo the Saturday school let out.  It was just me and the boys, but it turned out to be a great plan, I got some time with my kids!

we STARTED the trip off with the train ride, instead of leaving it for last
alright! we have arrived!!!
this butterfly was a big hit with my two!
Tyler's look of amazement just made me SO happy!

I bought the boys cheap-o disposable cameras for the day's adventure, thinking it could be a regular summer treat.  No way! $30 for developing SINGLE prints... yikes!!!!  Tyler LOVED having his own camera though... ran through his 27 exposures at super speed!

Here they are scrapbooking their prints.  I got them little pre-made & designed (kid themed) scrapbooks from hobby lobby, they love them, and we add photos & mementos here and there! (mostly just glue down a few pics and write captions in marker).

The rest of June, you could find us spending lots of time at the park or in the back yard, or in the pool... or aquarium splash park!!

this was also the month of INCREDIBLY silly faces and poses for the camera!
One night, the boys donned their Buzz Lightyear aprons (and jet pack, that was fun, let me tell ya!) and cooked us a delicious meal of banana nut pancakes & bacon for dinner.  They even garnished the plates with banana slices & chopped pecans!

So much late-evening park fun! The late summer evening hours are my absolutely, hands down, favorite time of the year!

My sister Sarah, came down for a visit mid-month, and Tyler was VERY excited to ride in a REAL JEEP!!!

The next week, we drove up to North Austin for my inlaws' anniversary... we went to a Round Rock Express baseball game, the museum of the weird in downtown Austin, and brought Lexi back with us!

When Lexi was here, we tie dyed shirts that came out SOOOO good! Spent time at the aquarium, beach, home, etc!

After Lexi left again, we spent EVEN more time at the parks for fun... sandwich picnic dinners have GOT to be one of our favorite things about this summer, at least for me!

It was a "little" windy one evening, that's when I decided the boys NEEDED haircuts! haha

Now they're running down the hill at the "cool" park

They've been a little... dirty... this summer! :)

That wraps up June, at least the photos from my big camera! Getting to work ASAP on the rest of my pics, since it is SOO much easier to upload and write a blog post now! Yay!  I'll have to do double posts (big camera, little camera) to catch up the past summer fun! Now I'm excited to blog again!!
