Halloween 2012

This year for Halloween the boys were the crime fighting duo of Batman & Robin.  Since it's naptime in our house, I thought I'd take the time to sit down and jot down the memories from Halloween 2012 that I wanted to remember, while they're fresh in my brain.

The first Halloween thing I want to remember is carving pumpkins at home... Cody made a Frankenstein, I made a witch's hat with a dangly spider, and Colton designed a mustache sporting, eyebrow having jack o lantern.  Carving the pumpkins took longer than expected that evening, so the pizza guy arrived just as we lit the jack o lanterns!

We also went to Boo Bash, like we do every year.  This was the first year that Tyler braved the inflatable slides... they were VERY tall... so Katie and I took turns take Tyler through the course.  PHEW! That was a workout, but the slide at the end was by FAR the best part! Colton is at that age where he LOVES those inflatable things... I couldn't keep up with him.  Thankfully, we had my sister and her boyfriend with us to at least tell me which direction he ran off in (or mostly, what slide he was in line for)

Then of course, Halloween Day! This year we did not have to trick-or-treat alone, even though Daddy was working.  We have some friends renting a house in town, and I like to trick-or-treat in their neighborhood, so we all went out together.  My favorite memories from trick-or-treating:

1. Colton adding "and my kid brother Robin" whenever anyone would say "oh hey, it's batman!" He made sure people knew they were the dynamic duo and not just another kid in a hero costume.

2. Colton being scared by a guy hiding in a car growling at kids, but acting like the big tough guy by going "oh hmph" as he took a giant step backwards.

3. Tyler covering his eyes whenever he saw something scary.  Only, not covering his eyes because he had to look where he was going, so his hand would be in between the eye-holes on his mask.

4. Tyler looking up to see me because his mask kept slipping down.

5. Colton saying "That guy is dressed like Jesus" after receiving candy from a man dressed as a monk or priest.  Then, after the man was VERY nice to Tyler and our buddy Mason, Colton quietly and sweetly asked "That guy is so nice, is that God?".  I told him "well, we just never know but I bet God is happy because he is so nice to everyone"

6. Tyler, the normally shy, very introverted kid, marching right up to people, strangers, after he figured out that we were getting CANDY!!! He has his momma's sweet tooth!

and finally, the show and the comedy that came with it when I asked for a quick mini photoshoot for Halloween pictures... the boys really love superheroes lately!

I can't wait until next year... we're continuing on with a duo theme!! We're thinking Goose & Maverick from Top Gun!
