Colton LOOOOVES school, and his recount of the day USUALLY makes me laugh. He says his teacher is really nice, (but does get grumpy sometimes when kids are bad).
The highlight of the first week was eating lunch in the cafeteria- did you know they serve PIZZA at school, TWO KINDS to choose from?! Colton was pretty impressed. He also really liked Mr. K- the public library's storytime guy, he is very entertaining, and apparently pulled a joke on Colton last week.
The second week, the little kids got to go to the COMPUTER LAB and play "ABC games". There are "LOTS AND LOTS" of computers in there, and when they were done, they "just left all 'dem on"!
Also, this past Friday, they got to go to the library!! He didn't check out a book, but they got a tour and had storytime in there.
Some of you may know that Colton can really be a handful for me, (not bad, just busy and TOO smart!), but everyday his teacher says that he had an EXCELLENT day, and he comes home with a stamp on his hand (for sitting still- criss-cross applesauce) and a sticker on his shirt for listening.
His friend Taylor is in his class, and he tells me he's asked her to marry him, and she always tells him "later", but one day last week, she said yes! hehehe.... One morning I dropped him off and Taylor was already there, sitting in the middle of two other kids. Colton stuck his leg in between Taylor and another kid on the bench and squeezed his skinny butt in there- no one is taking his girl!
He is making other friends too, but has too much fun and can't remember their names.
He was annoyed last week that they had to practice tracing their names because he already knows how to write it himself, and that they learned their shapes. I told him that some kids didn't so to be patient, and he sighed and said "okay. well, I learned diamond at school, because I didn't already knowed that shape". *oy*
I can see him thriving socially though, we've never been around a ton of kids and/or situations where I'm not there either. He never cried from the first day I dropped him off. He does prefer for me to stop at the cafeteria door on my way out and wave at him though. That's okay, I think it's super sweet.
So far, I've kept all of his work that's been sent home. I have intentions of getting a two-drawer filing cabinet, and keeping stuff from each school year for both of the boys.
We have our first open house on September 14th, and I can't wait for Colton to show me around! I've already seen a change in him- personality wise. He's... like a kid now... no more toddler-hood/preschooler! It happened SO SO fast!
Here's the big guy on the first morning of school- in the outfit he picked out the night before- all himself!
