12 months, one year!

Today, August 25, 2010, my little Tyler Bug is one year old.  One year ago, at 4:27pm, he came into this world at 5lbs 2oz, and 18 inches long.  During the surgery, they kept telling me that he wouldn't cry, he was too tiny, that it was too early.  That he would be small and need oxygen right away.

Well, when he popped out (literally) through the left side of my incision, he came out screaming.  I loved hearing his scream. They whipped him over to the table where they check out babies, and stuck an oxygen mask on him, and though his cry was muffled, he screamed louder.  He did not like that one bit.

Finally, they brought him over to me, and I rubbed his little cheek.

After that, Daddy went with baby to the nursery while I was stitched up.  I didn't get to see him in recovery, but Cody did come back with photos.  When I got back to my L&D room, my parents were waiting there with Colton.  I was so happy to see him.

I don't know what time it was, but I do know it was after dark, and I was getting upset that I hadn't seen Tyler yet, my mom convinced the nurse to bring him into my room.  Apparently he was having some trouble maintaining body temp and eating, so he wasn't allowed out of the warmer.  When I got to hold him, his hospital blankets were warm and smelled like a baby.  We all got to snuggle with him for a bit before he was taken back to the nursery. I was bed bound due to the meds I was on for my blood pressure and couldn't go see him.

After his brief visit with us, he was whisked back off to the NICU.  I still couldn't get out of bed until 24 hours had passed after delivery.  Finally, the next evening, Cody was able to help me get down to the NICU.  That place sure was scary at first, all the monitors and sanitizing, and beeping, and stuff.  But I was so happy to hold him.  Tiny little man.

After four days in the hospital total, we went home the following Friday!

FINALLY our home was complete.  We had our two darling sons, and life has never been and never will be the same.

The past year has been wonderful.  My hands might be full at times, but the fullness in my heart is something that can't be outdone.  Tyler is the perfect addition to our family.  I can't wait to see his personality develop more, and see the fun he will have with his brother as he gets bigger and bigger.

I love you Tyler Ray, and I'm glad you're mine.
